DANCE ETIQUETTE
In the interest of making an enjoyable experience for all who attend our dances, it may be useful to be reminded of a few things that are sometimes forgotten.
1. Be sure to use the entire dance floor – do not cut across the corner.
2. Walk around the perimeter of the dance floor - do not cross the dance floor whilst a dance is in progress. This is also a good idea at meal/supper time, especially when carrying drinks.
3. Keep off the dance floor when a dance is in progress if you are not dancing.
4. It is preferable not to join a dance already in progress as a courtesy to those who took to the dance floor in time, however, should you choose to join a dance that is in progress, be sure not to invade the space of the dancers already on the floor.
5. Sequence dances have been choreographed by talented dancers and should be danced in accordance with the script. This is not intended to discourage ‘styling’ however the onus is on the dancer modifying the script to ensure that they do not interfere with the dancers either side of them, especially if those dancers are compliant with the script.
6. Be aware of dancers around you, especially those in front of you.
7. Learn correct alignments as this will avoid collisions with other dancers.
8. If there is any sort of bump or incident on the dance floor, an apology should be made.
9. If you are participating in a lesson, please give the instructor/s the respect they deserve by paying attention and keeping quiet.
10. If you are not participating in a lesson, please remain silent during the lesson.
